FCA Hawai'i's History
In the 90's....
David Horne launched FCA throughout Oahu and the University of Hawaii. To this day, many who came to Jesus and those who were encouraged by the FCA ministry are leading their own teams today.
In 2007...
Barrett Awai was hired by Youth For Christ Hawaii to do high school huddles. As he studied more on FCA’s 4 C’s, he saw a much larger population FCA needed to reach. YFC Hawaii was very supportive of seeing this growth through.
On July 1, 2009...
FCA hired Barrett as its sole employee to direct its operations. Now, Barrett is the assistant Kahu at Kamehameha Kapālama. He is a wonderful friend, guide and foundation for the current, leader Daniel Rich.
In 2015...
Tua Mahaley took FCA to the next level alongside Barrett! He trained students and volunteers, led new events, and loved and served brilliantly. He is now married to Shanna and is living in the Seattle area!
In 2019...
Daniel Rich has initiated a focus on hiring leaders from Hawaii to lead the coaches and athletes in their communities. There is a strong focus on developing leaders to go and share their faith within their schools and sports teams.
Today...
FCA Hawaii is a group of believers who are passionate about sports, pursuing God's desires, partnering in fellowship with their churches, and sharing the Gospel throughout their communities.
