Barrett Awai

Barrett is a 1988 graduate of Kamehameha Schools where he lettered 3 years in Football and Baseball and 2 years in Basketball. He earned an AA in Liberal Arts from Arizona Western College in 1990 and played football for 2 years for the Matadors. He was invited to walk on for the BYU Cougars football team and later earned a full scholarship and lettered 2 years on the WAC championship teams. He received a BS in Sociology in 1993 from BYU.
He returned home and worked with the first crew for the new Mahalo Air. After its closure, he managed at a Honolulu restaurant for 8 years. Barrett is a Hoku Award winning soloist and a member of the Hoku award winning group "Kaukahi". Barrett's first full time ministry work started at Kawaiahao Church in Honolulu. He directed the youth and young adult ministry for 2 years. Then in January 2007, he was hired to direct the expansion of FCA across the state of Hawaii. He and wife Tara are raising five children.
